Interview with Mary Turner

This is my first Interview. I interviewed Mary Turner. To film I used light, a mic, a camera on a tripod. Because of her glasses it was really hard to find the perfect lightning, because you should see the light as less as possible in her glasses. In the beginning it was really hard for me to think of questions I could ask her, but with the time it got easier. I feel like you should think about it like an normal conversation. After cutting my voice out, and cutting her answers with Final cut Pro I understood how easy you can change the original answer with the "magic" of cutting. Next Time I want to put the camera in a place where you can see more of Marys face. It is really easy to hide the cuts with b-roll, I liked to play with the variation of using pictures and videos.

Documentary

"Twinsters"

The Documentary "Twinsters" is about a girl in French named Aniis who's friend sees a video on youtube where a other girl punshes a boy in his dick.

This girl looks exactly like Aniis but is from America. So Aniis and her friend begin to stalk the girl Sam and after looking through her youtube videos they find out that she also got adopted from China on the same day and in the same year as Aniis. Aniis contacts Sam and tells her about this unbelievable facts. You will know what happens after this, if you watch the "Twinsters"

What did I like?

First of all, I think the story that gets told in this documentary is incredible and really engaging as it gets told.

They used B-rolls  in form of little videos of the surrounding area, short videos of Sam and Aniis. They also use some mute scenes. Most of the Documentary has quiet music playing in the background. There are some close shots from only their eyes, mouth, face, hands.I also really liked when someone spoke during the shots of the city, or surrounding area.

Watching a documentary after filming and editing an interview-

watching with an critical eye

Because I cut my Interview, I can now tell how much effort they probably put into editing and filming. I began to not only see the documentary also the work behind it. I can now tell why they put a video of Chinese traffic in that spot- they needed b- roll.

I would definetly recommend this documentary because the story behind it is engaging. It shows feelings and while watching it feels like you are par of it like you are live with the main characters. You also get to know about adoption- what rights the birth mother and the adopted kids have.
